The reason why some of the people got the letters from Singnet/Pacnet/Starhub is because RIAA/RIAS lodge a complaint against the ISPs when they detect you are distributing illegal mp3s/divx etc. RIAA/RIAS does not have information about you, ONLY YOUR ISP is able to know who is using that IP at the time. So, your ISP will send a letter informing what you do is ILLEGAL.
Unless RIAA/RIAS lodge a legal proceeding under the court, and the court order the ISP to give the information to RIAA/RIAS, then.......RIAA/RIAS can then use the information to lodge a complain with the court in Singapore.
And only if the court find you guilty, then you will be fined.
So easy to give fine ??? You think the RIAA/RIAS is now the mata2.
SO to all those people who got frien's frien's brother's uncle's cousin's frien's cat's frien's owner's frien's mother's sister's daugher who got FINE........
Please try harder.
Even the latest onslaught by RIAA to force some universities in America to hand over the information of their students using p2p network has been refused by the court.
